Historic Preservation awards recipients announced for 2008

The Westport Historic District Commission has announced the recipients of its 2008 Historic Preservation Awards.
The awards will be presented by First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff and the Historic District Commission on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Town Hall auditorium.
“The town, commission members, and I are extremely grateful to the recipient property owners for their efforts, dedication and commitment to preservation,” said Maggie Feczko, acting commission chair.
Award winners include:
- 2 Washington Avenue
- 7 Canal Street
- 35 Washington Street
- 67 Kings Highway North
- 96 Compo Road South
- 113 Cross Highway
- 124 Compo Road South
- 180 Hillspoint Road South
- 38 Evergreen Avenue
- 215 Post Road West

Electronics recycling scheduled for Sept. 13 in Norwalk

RTM amends demolition ordinance to extend waiting period
The Representative Town Meeting (RTM) has recently amended the demolition permit ordinance.
Effective Aug. 27, the demolition delay period has been extended from 90 to 180 days. This delay applies to all structures 500 square feet or larger and 50 years of age or older. The purpose of the increased delay period is to allow the Historic District Commission and other interested parties to consider and put forth alternatives to demolition....more>> |
